Meet Eric

Wow!  What pressure it is to write something profound about yourself.  Hey, I need to convince you I’m the greatest real estate agent that ever walked the face of the earth.  And I’ve got to do it in less than 500 words.  But really, all I can do is tell my story.  So here it is.

My first experience in real estate was when my wife & I bought the ultimate fixer-upper.  The sellers had tried to unload it for 2 years.  Finally they said, “Someone take over our payments.  Nothing down.”  (This was 25 years ago.)  We bought the house & went to work.  We replaced part of the foundation, wiring, plumbing, siding, windows & built an addition.  We learned how as we went along.  We finished the last few details a month before we sold it.

Hey! we did it once.  Why not do it again?  This time it was a bigger house–a 2-story Victorian.  We bought it as-is and had to do major work.  Again, we learned how to do it as we went along.  By this time we were pretty handy with power tools.

Life moved along and we had the chance to build on a few acres outside of town.  “Build” didn’t mean hiring people.  It meant calling friends & family to help.  We hired the foundation & the carpet.  The rest we put together with our own hands and the help of friends.

After all of this, I decided I should go do construction and repairs for other people.  I started my own business.  After a few years of struggle I made a go of it.  Brenda, my bride, joined me in business after a few years–doing faux painting.  We eventually dropped the remodeling business and for the past 10 years have made our living doing only faux finishes.

We’d always dreamed of buying, fixing up and selling a few houses.  After all, we’ve been doing it most of our lives.  After doing a few deals I decided I really should become a realtor and get plugged in to the market here in Kansas City.

So now I’m working as an active real estate agent.  I offer a unique perspective for my buyer in that I’ve personally taken apart and put together houses for years.  I’ve also studied real estate investing and learned how to find deals.

If you are selling, I bring the experience from years of working with Brenda to create WOW homes.  One of our friends calls her “the Rainman” of color.

So there it is–a thumbnail sketch of my life up to now.  But what you really want to know is what I can do for you.  Before I can tell you that I’ll need to listen to your story and find out what you need and want.  So, if you want to continue this conversation and see what I can do for you, give me a call and I’ll be glad to listen to you and see if I can help.
